2019 Ellis County high school football previews

By Travis M. Smith | KBEC Sports

High school football is back in Texas.

Sorry, but that’s the best lede we could come up with ahead of the 2019 Texas high school football season. But, boy, is Ellis County primed to continue to be one of the state’s premier regions for pigskin excellence.

Throughout the football season, KBEC Sports will lean heavily on our small team of correspondents and the experts at Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, which the Associated Press recently named the longtime media outlet as the official state rankings provider for Texas, for predictions, playoff projections, state and regional rankings, and more. We will also occasionally check in with the recruiting experts at 247Sports closer to the first National Signing Day.

Before the hoopla of the regular season begins, it’s necessary to know where each Ellis County football program stands ahead of kickoff.

KBEC Sports has also targeted eight teams that we are confident will make the 2019 postseason. Those programs have been “written in stone” on our playoff schedules and will also likely be chosen as a KBEC Sports Game of the Week at some point this season.

The aforementioned and soon-to-be-launched program will highlight one high school football game each Friday to be featured on the KBEC Sports website with a game recap, photos and more.

So, without further ado, below are previews for all of the Ellis County programs:
