KBEC Sports report
The Midlothian Lady Panthers opened the season with a home sweep of Keller Timber Creek and did not look back — for 18 consecutive matches.
The Lady Panthers dropped the opening set of that opening match, 20-25. They quickly recovered to run out the ensuing three sets for a four-set season-opening victory, 20-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-21, on Aug. 8 inside the arena at Midlothian High.
Midlothian is currently 18-1 on the season, having won 39 of its 47 sets played. The Lady Panthers had their undefeated run end during tournament play Saturday against Richland (25-22, 19-25, 23-25). Midlothian captured the Mansfield Methodist Medical Center Tournament championship in the process.
However, the records go out the window Tuesday, as the Lady Panthers are set to face in-town [assumed and probable] rival Midlothian Heritage for the first time in program history. The District 8-5A match is slated for a 5:30 p.m. first serve inside the arena at Midlothian High.
