Despite quite the individual performance by Nate Aguinaga, the Ferris Yellowjackets fell in a heartbreaker Friday night at home against Quinlan Ford, 48-41.
The junior quarterback accounted for 289 of the Yellowjackets 341 total yards — a whopping 84 percent of the offensive unit’s production — and all six Ferris touchdowns.
Aguinaga rushed a game-high 20 times for 184 yards (9.2 YPC) and five touchdowns, while also completing 3-of-his-9 passes for 105 yards and a 62-yard touchdown to Demarcus Rankin (2-93).
Ivan Garcia added 11 carries for 31 yards for the Yellowjackets.
The Panthers, meanwhile, picked up 27 first downs on 354 rushing yards and 129 yards through the air. Cayson Huff led Ford with 112 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries. Junior quarterback Eli Chambers completed 8-of-his-9 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, while also added a team-high 11 carries for 70 yards and one score.
The (1-2) Ferris Yellowjackets will make the long trek to (2-1) Athens for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday.
