Ellis County Football Friday Roundup: Week 4 (Sept. 17)

By Travis M. Smith | KBEC Sports

For the second consecutive week, seven Ellis County teams picked up wins during week four of the high school football season. District play has also begun for a few programs as we head into the halfway point of the season.

Stats, standout players and recaps will be added throughout the weekend.

As always, fans can catch a full recap of all things Ellis County athletics every Monday night from 6-7 p.m. on KBEC 1390AM/99.1FM and online at elliscosports.com during “The Press Box.”

CLASS 6A

WAXAHACHIE 24, Hewitt Midway 21

A true tale of (almost) two halves unfolded Friday in Hewitt Midway. Waxahachie dominated the first half, limiting the Panthers to fewer than 50 total yards in the District 11-6A opener. But, the District of Doom didn’t earn its name by allowing blowouts.

CLASS 5A

No. 6 ENNIS 28, Greenville 0

There were unofficial reports of the clock running a bit quicker than usual in this non-district road win for the sixth-ranked Lions — and Greenville was likely happier for it.
