First-ever All-Ellis County All-Star Week set to begin June 29; featuring baseball, softball standouts

KBEC Sports report

For the first time in the history of Ellis County athletics, the top high school baseball and softball talent will be collectively on display during the upcoming All-Ellis County All-Star Week.

The three-day showcase is under the coordination of KBEC 1390AM/99.1FM and is powered by the National Worldwide Education Institue plus other generous community sponsors. All three events — two countywide all-star games and a home run derby — will take place in Waxahachie.

The week of celebration begins Monday with the weekly KBEC sports talk show, The Press Box, featuring players, coaches and more ahead of the three-day showcase. The focus will then shift to historic Paul Richards Park on Tuesday, June 29, for a 7 p.m. first pitch in the first-ever All-Ellis County East vs. West All-Star Game. Logan Brady, of Pinnacle Bank and a Waxahachie graduate, will toss the ceremonial first pitch.

Teams were divided as equally as possible — taking into consideration UIL classification and proximity — into the two regions, which will continue as the All-Ellis County All-Star games grow into the future to include additional sports. The West team consists of Midlothian, Midlothian Heritage, Life Waxahachie, Maypearl, Italy and Milford, while the East encompasses Waxahachie, Red Oak, Ennis, Ferris, Palmer and Avalon.

Softball will then take center stage Wednesday, June 30, on the turf field at Waxahachie High School. The first pitch is slated for 8 p.m., with Barry Navarro of the Waxahachie RBI Club set to toss the ceremonial first pitch a few minutes prior.

The week will conclude with the second annual All-Ellis County Home Run Derby on Thursday, July 1, at the Waxahachie Sports Complex. The derby will begin at 8 p.m. and feature 10 of the biggest bats in Ellis County.

KBEC hosted the first-ever home run derby in 2020, which saw Midlothian Heritage graduate Rock Martinez outslug the field in front of roughly 400 spectators.

All three events will be broadcasted live by the KBEC team on 1390AM/99.1FM and streamed online at elliscosports.com. There is no admission to attend any of the three showcases.

Our Home Run sponsors include Tow Pro Wrecker Service, Ennis Door & Trim, Celebrity Bakery, Wayne Price Heat & Air, Pinnacle Bank – Midlothian, First Financial Bank, Waxahachie RBI Club, Synergy Roofing and Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson LLP.

Elevation Roofing is a Triple Sponsor, while Wolverton Air, Matt Authier with Gateway Mortgage, Waxahachie Civic Center, Lance Wallace with Gateway Mortgage, JC Heine HVAC, Pearman Oil and Gas and Area Wide Plumbing have each graciously stepped up to the plate as Double sponsors.

The teams and home run derby roster will be added below as they are announced.
