WAXAHACHIE — Twenty-nine of the best softball players in Ellis County stepped onto the turf at Lady Indian Park in Waxahachie for the third annual All-Ellis County All-Star game on Wednesday.

Due to weather concerns and eventual storms, the game was called after three-and-a-half innings, ending in a 3-3 tie.

Alyna Becerra (Midlothian Heritage, 2024) was named the 2023 Methodist Midlothian Medical Center Most Valuable Player.

The Midlothian Heritage third baseman laced a two-out double down the third base line in the top of the first inning to plate a pair of West runs. She later scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 West lead.

Ferris graduate Rylee Yarborough started inside the circle for the East. She recovered from the shaky first inning to strike out 3-of-her-final-4 batters during the two-inning outing.

Yarborough was named the District 13-4A Pitcher of the Year following her senior season in BrickTown and will continue her career at Western Texas College.

Bryten Burns (Waxahachie, 2024) led off the West half of the first inning with a walk. She moved to third base via a wild pitch and a single slapped into left field by Kenli Dobie (Palmer, 2026).

Burns, a District 11-6A first-team selection, scored a few pitches later, beating the throw from the West catcher at the backstop to the plate by a step and slide.

The East eventually scratched a second run to pull within one, 3-2, in the bottom of the first. Taylor Bilderback (Midlothian Heritage, 2025, District 8-5A first team) made a great play on a line drive at short for a double play to end the inning.

The East tied the game at 3-all when Corrie Caldwell tripled down the right-field line in the bottom of the second. Caldwell was named the District 9-3A Catcher of the Year following her senior season for the Lady Bulldogs.

The game ultimately ended in a lightning delay that quickly turned into a summer storm with the score still tied, 3-3, as the bottom of the fourth inning began.

The tie marked the second in the short history of the annual game (6-6, 2022). Aubree Lalani, a 2022 Ennis graduate, led the East to a 5-0 victory in the inaugural year.

The 3rd annual All-Ellis County All-Star game would not have been made possible without presenting sponsor Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and supporting sponsors Pearman Oil & Gas LP, HLH&R Metals, Waxahachie Autoplex and Waxahachie ISD Athletics.
