The Palmer Bulldogs soundly defeated the Mildred Eagles in a District 7-3A Division II home game, 58-13.
The game, held at Bulldog Stadium on Friday, Oct. 2, was also Senior Night for the Palmer Class of 2021.
The Palmer offense outgained Mildred 558 total yards to 267 yards and doubled-up the Eagles in first downs (24-12).
Bralen Lopez paced the Bulldogs’ offense with 155 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 11 carries. As a team, Palmer rushed for 378 yards and three touchdowns with Jacob Berumen (7-80, 2 TDs) and Joe King (1-10, TD) also finding paydirt.
Gabe Bolden, the Bulldogs’ third-string quarterback, completed 14-of-his 18 passes for 180 yards and touchdowns to Berumen (4-40) and Arturo Gonzalez (5-97).
Collin Graves led the Palmer defense with nine total tackles and two tackles-for-loss, while Gaige Corey and Grant Cruzan each recorded seven total tackles.
The victory improved the Bulldogs to 5-1 on the season and 1-1 in District 7-3A action.
Palmer heads into the final week of the regular season with an 8-1 overall record and 4-1 mark in district play. The Bulldogs will host Gateway Charter Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bulldog Stadium with an opportunity to win a second-consecutive district title.
