The third annual All-Ellis County All-Star softball game was held Thursday, June 15 at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.
Jared Thomas (Waxahachie, 2022) won the derby with a record-setting 21 home runs in the championship round. Thomas, who will play for the University of Texas next season, averaged a home run every 5.7 seconds with his father, Shawn, pitching to set the record and defeat Ian Williams (Palmer, 2022) in the third year of the event.
Gabe Vasquez (Midlothian Heritage) set the previous high-water mark for home runs in a round when he blasted 18 in the first year of the event in 2020.

The Home Run Derby was presented by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center., while Cross Country Pest Control served as the stage sponsor for the Jake Worthington concert that followed the contest.
