The Waxahachie Indians improved to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in District 11-6A with a 30-21 win Friday against Mansfield Lake Ridge at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium. The game was the annual Pink Out, which brings awareness to the fight against breast cancer and honors survivors.
Junior running backs Iverson Young (2) and Jayden Becks (5) led the Indian offense on an evening when the group had to overcome six turnovers, including four in the first half and three on their first four drives.
Waxahachie ultimately managed to outgain Lake Ridge 274 total yards to 217, with 205 coming on the ground for the Indians.
Young led the Waxahachie rushing attack with 23 carries for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He is nearing 600 yards rushing on the season, averaging 118.4 yards per game for (4-1, 2-0) Waxahachie.
Jayden Becks added 13 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown for the Tribe.
