GALLERY: Waxahachie, Red Oak hold joint scrimmage ahead of 2022 football season

The 6A Waxahachie Indians hosted their neighboring 5A Red Oak Hawks for a final tune-up and scrimmage ahead of the 2022 football season this past Thursday. No score was kept, but several dozen photos were captured by the KBEC Sports team.

Waxahachie opens the football season at home Friday, Aug. 26 against rival Ennis in the 101st Battle of 287. Kickoff at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium is at 7 p.m. and it’s expected to be standing-room only.

Red Oak will also open the season at home. The Hawks and The Colony will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Billy Goodloe Stadium.
