The week two KBEC Sports Game of the Week will feature the Princeton Panthers visiting the Red Oak Hawks at Billy Goodloe Stadium.
The Hawks enter the contest after falling in the season opener to Denton Braswell, while the Princeton Panthers are hot off of a 33-0 drubbing of South Garland, a game in which Princeton was flagged just once for five yards.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Red Oak defeated Princeton 19-7 in week two of the 2018 season.
HEAD COACHES
This season marks the third for the Panthers under head coach Clint Surratt. With its win in week one, Princeton is 9-13 under his direction.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are now 9-3 under second-year head coach Chris Ross.
PRINCETON OFFENSE
Quarterback Brendon Strickland (No. 10, senior) completed 14-of-his-18 passes (78%) for 295 yards with three touchdowns in the victory.
Kendall Johnson (No. 2) and Daniel Torres (No. 15) each eclipsed the 100-yard plateau, with Johnson catching six passes for 106 yards and one touchdown. Torres added four grabs for 101 yards and a score while running back Jay Hill had one catch for a 65-yard touchdown.
Johnson measures in at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds, while Torres checks in at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds.
Princeton amassed just 106 yards on the ground, led by senior running back Jay Hill (No. 24) with 53 yards on 11 carries. Mari Bradley (No. 34) toted the rock nine times for 28 yards and both he and Hill scored one touchdown.
PRINCETON DEFENSE
The Panthers were led on defense by sophomore defensive back Jacob Lopez, who finished the game with three interceptions. He returned one of those picks for a score.
RED OAK IN WEEK ONE
The Hawks entered the season as the 17th-ranked team in 5A Division II, according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
Red Oak accounted for more than 420 yards of offense in the opener, led by junior quarterback Joshua Ervin.
Ervin finished the game with 242 yards and four touchdowns on 11-of-27 passing.
Raymond Gay pulled down two of those Ervin passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns, while Coby Cavil — a University of Lousiana-Monroe commit — recorded six catches for 88 yards and one score.
Zach Sanders paced the Hawks ground game with 19 carries for 78 yards (4.11 YPC).
