Week 11 of the high school football season saw these four student-athletes stand just a little taller than the rest. Cast your vote early and often before the poll closes at noon Friday! The KBEC Sports Player of the week is presented by Ellis Down Home and KBEC 1390AM/ 99.1FM.

Who will be the week 11 KBEC Sports Player of the Week?

Gage Mayfield (Life Waxahachie) accounted for five total touchdowns to help the Mustangs set a new program-record for points in a game in a 71-39 victory Friday against Quinlan Ford. The senior quarterback completed 7-of-his-10 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing 16 times for 218 yards and two touchdowns and even caught two passes for 70 yards and one touchdown. Mayfield recorded one of two Mustang interceptions, as well. Life Waxahachie improved to 7-3 on the season with the win and finished in the third spot in District 9-4A with a 3-2 record. The Mustangs will look to their first playoff game in program history on Thursday against (5-5, 3-2) Palestine. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Forney ISD’s City Bank Stadium.
CJ Palmer (Red Oak) led the Red Oak offense to a home victory Thursday against Seagoville to clinch the Hawks first outright district championship in 37 years. The senior running back rushed 12 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Red Oak offense to 422 total yards. Palmer ended the regular season with 1,222 yards and 18 touchdowns, despite not playing in the second half of most games and missing the first game.
Dylan Tyree (Palmer) scored three times to put a bow on the first 10-win and undefeated regular season in Palmer football history on Friday in a 45-15 victory against Blooming Grove. Tyree rushed 11 times for 106 yards and three touchdowns during the victory, averaging 9.6 yards per carry and pushing him over the 1,000-yard plateau for the season. He scored twice in the second half to put away the game that entered the final four minutes of the second quarter with the Bulldogs leading, 22-15. The senior running back also caught one pass from Adrian Cisneros to convert a two-point attempt. Tyree ended the regular season with 140 carries for 1,038 yards (7.4 YPC) and 14 touchdowns. Palmer faces (6-4, 1-3) Hamilton at 7 p.m. Thursday in Whitney.
JT Cavender (Midlothian) was a meanace for the Panther defense on Friday in a 53-12 victory against Waco University. The nearly unblockable Cavender recorded 13 total tackles (8 solos), 2 tackles-for-loss and two sacks. He also forced and recovered one fumble. As a team, the Midlothian defense limited the Trojans to 221 total yards and 13 first downs. The unit also forced five turnovers. Cavender ended the regular season with 96 total tackles (62 solos) and 9 TFL. Midlothian (8-2, 6-2 in 5-5A) faces (8-2, 6-1) South Oak Cliff in the 5A Division II bi-distrrict championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Sprague Stadium in Dallas.
