The Midlothian Lady Panthers continued their torrid roll through the regular season Friday by clinching the outright District 14-5A district soccer title.
Backed by an Emma Best hat trick, Midlothian bested visiting Corsicana, 8-nil, at the Roesler Athletic Complex.
Kaleigh Naizer, Tori Sorrels, Allyson Gibbs, Lizzie Simpson and Hannah Valle also scored goals on assists by Nazier (2), Sorrels, Gibbs and Forbes (3).
Nazier currently leads the Lady Panthers with 16 goals and 12 assists on the season, while Zoe Boldt has allowed just four goals over 20 matches.
The Lady Panthers began the season with a nil-nil draw against Alamo Heights in the first game of the Highland Park tournament. They then fell to the tournament hosts and reigning 5A state champions, 2-1, on Jan. 3.
Since that time, Midlothian has outscored its opposition 47-5 and boasts a sparkling 17-0-1 record.
The Lady Scots, meanwhile, are currently 13-3-1 overall, 10-0 in 11-5A and are the top-ranked team in the TASCO 5A Region II rankings.
Midlothian is now 11-0-0 in District 14-5A play and will win the district outright despite what happens in the final regular-season game Tuesday, March 17 against Red Oak. The match is slated to kickoff at 5:30 p.m. in Red Oak.
