Midlothian Heritage quarterback Carter Rutenbar accounted for four total touchdowns to lead the 10th-ranked Jaguars by 4A No. 4 Stephenville. Those efforts led to his selection as the inaugural Methodist Midlothian Medical Center Player of the Week for Ellis County.
Runtenbar completed 17-of-his-29 passes for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 31-29 victory to open the season at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville. The junior quarterback also added 8 carries for 32 yards and another touchdown en route to being named the Methodist Midlothian Medical Center Player of the Week for week 1 of the Ellis County high school football season.
Rutenbar ultimately completed two-or-more passes to 5 different Jaguar receivers.
Freeman Robinson led the team with 67 yards and one touchdown on four catches. Stetson Sarratt (2-43, TD) and Ryan Satterwhite (2-34, TD) pulled in the other two Rutenbar touchdown passes, while juniors Jayce McCoy (6-57) and Chris Robinson (3-53) also joined in on the air attack.
Rutenbar and the Jaguars make their home debut Friday against (0-1) Cleburne. Kickoff at Midlothian ISD Multipurpose Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
Cleburne fell to Houston Heights 28-0 in week one. The Yellowjackets mustered just 244 total yards of offense in the loss.
