KBEC Sports report
Georgia Capell burst onto the Division II softball scene three seasons ago with quite a bit of pop in her bat.
She has not slowed down, either, and now has the crown to prove it.
The 2017 Midlothian High graduate and Tarleton State junior now sits alone atop the home run leaderboard at the soon-to-be Division I university.
In the second game of a weekend doubleheader against Western New Mexico, Capell wasted no time in breaking the Tarleton home run record. The junior left the yard in her first at-bat to become the school’s all-time home run leader and lead the Texans to a two-game sweep.

Capell’s first-inning long ball in Silver City, New Mexico, passed Arianna Rodriguez (41) for the most home runs in Tarleton history. It was the 42nd career home run for Capell.
Capell currently has seven home runs in 21 games for the Texans. She also boasts a .414 batting average and has just eight strikeouts over her 70 at-bats.
Tarleton State went on to win the game, 7-2, which notched the 69th career win for starting pitcher Jordan Withrow.
Withrow, a senior from Trenton, Texas, set the program record for career wins during the 21st-ranked Texans’ 21-5 victory in game one Saturday.
