Youth Kickball Tournament held at Penn Park in Waxahachie

WAXAHACHIE — Four members of the Waxahachie community recently rallied friends and families to host the first-ever Penn Park Youth Kickball Tournament.

The tournament was held Sunday afternoon, June 28 at Lee Penn Park in Waxahachie and featured nine teams from Waxahachie and Ennis with the competitors ranging in age from four to 14 years old.

Connalius McCowan, one of the organizers, noted the sole intention of the afternoon was to bring the two communities together and provide the children with a safe and supportive atmosphere. McCowan was assisted in the organization of the kickball tournament by Briana Jordan, Denard Willams and Anissia Jay.

“We just put all the kids together and just let them play,” McCowan added.
