Midlothian Heritage soccer girls win 4th annual Frostbite Tourney

The Midlothian Heritage girls’ soccer team continued its dominant start to the season over the weekend in the 4th annual Frostbite Tournament.

It marked the third consecutive championship for the varsity Jaguars in their home tournament.

Heritage began the tournament with a 4-1 victory against Athens, with the goal allowed the first by the Jaguar defensive unit through the season’s first six matches.

Aaliyah Bivins netted a pair of goals, while Kerry Scott and Rachel Allen also found the back of the net on assists by Megan McCarthy, Hannah Dorsey, Allen and Bivins.

The Jaguars followed with a 4-nil victory against Salado, receiving goals from Bivins (2), Allen and Sydney Dickson on assists by Dorsey and Bivins.

McCarthy recorded the clean sheet in goal and helped move the Jaguars into the championship tilt against Argyle.

The Lady Eagles stood little chance, as Heritage quickly built a 2-nil lead and added a late goal for the 3-nil win and tournament championship.

Scott and Dorsey scored goals in transition and Brynn Pollock added a penalty kick goal. Jaedyn Barela and Allen provided assists.

The tournament sweep improved Heritage to 7-0-1 on the season, with the Jaguars’ draw coming in scoreless fashion in the season-opening tournament against perennial power Liberty Hill.

The Jaguars followed the tournament title with a 6-nil victory Tuesday night against North Forney.

McCarthy again recorded the clean sheet in goal, while Allen (2), Dorsey (2), Pollock and Makenlee Mabra all found the back of the net.

JUNIOR VARSITY

The junior varsity Jaguars won their three matches in the 4th annual Frostbite Tournament by a combined score of 19-0. Heritage defeated Midlothian JV2, 8-0, Chapel Hill, 5-0 and Athens, 6-0. Rose Giambruno-Fuge (4), Kaedyn Rowney (3), Carly Jones (3), Lori Hinson, Maxie Eller, Mckinley Miller, Britney Greeson, Payton Grimes, Cheyenne Osborn and Trayn Stinchcomb all scored for the Jaguars over the weekend.

Assists were provided by Britney Greeson (2), Jaidyn Sandefer (2), Lauren Schmidt, Osborn, Giambruno-Fuge, Jones, and Hinson.

Rayna Lomax, Mckinley Miller and Giambruno-Fuge all combined the post the clean sheets in goal.

The Heritage junior varsity squad is now a perfect 4-0-0 on the young season.
